The 1920 silent version of Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde was not the first adaptation to be made in to a film, and certainly not the last. It has the distinction of being one of the few Jekyll & Hyde films to feature a LIVE transformation scene - the first time John Barrymore becomes Mr Hyde in front of the camera, he does so with no camera trickery, and no application of additional makeup.
